To keep the theme of animation I will choose two animators as my artists this week.
My first artist will be Hayao Miyazaki. He is the co-founder of Studio Ghibli. I've always loved watching his work when I as younger and still enjoy it as much.
His work has a very iconic look to them and is easily one of the most memorable of the realm of animation. Many people would know Miyazaki through the movies "Howl's Moving Castle", "Spirited Away", and "My Neighbor Totoro", which all fall into my top animated movies.
Miyazaki's drawing all have a very surreal and detail to them, which allows you to be more captivated by his work. In my opinion, the way he draws his clouds is probably one of my favorite part of his work.
Junji Ito is my second artist. In contrary to Miyazaki, Ito is a horror mangaka. His work is so incredibly detailed that makes you shiver. Junji Ito's work just adds to the terrifying plots that he has in his stories and just matches everything so well and helps you imagine how the story plays out without having it to be animated. Ito is known for his works "Tomie", "Uzumaki" and "Gyo". Something that I find a lot in his drawing, especially the people is that most of them have sanpaku or shihaku eyes, which portrays character's personality of looking more psychotic. I think that this attention to detail just at another level to help make the mood of his horror mangas.
Overall, I personally enjoy both work, enough to not be able to pick which one I like more. I personally love the idea of bringing both styles into one work because aesthetically I love Ito's linework and character portrayal, yet there is something more gravitating to Miyazaki's storyline.
